Fish Creek Lava Hot Springs wreck

Paul Gritton photo U.S. Highway 30 near Lava Hot Springs was closed Sunday afternoon due to a single-vehicle accident. This truck was towing a fifth-wheel and utility trailer combination when the trailers started to fish-tail resulting in the driver losing control and crashing.

The Idaho State Police along with the Bannock County Search and Rescue and EMS responded to a one-vehicle rollover crash on U.S. Highway 30 east of Lava Hot Springs Sunday afternoon.

Pocatellan Brian Grunig, 53, was traveling westbound on U.S. Highway 30, driving a 2002 Ford F250 pickup truck, towing a fifth-wheel travel trailer and a utility trailer.

The utility trailer started to "fish-tail" and Grunig lost control of his vehicle. The Ford truck crashed into the guardrail and the truck and fifth wheel trailer rolled on to the driver's side. The utility trailer jack knifed but stayed upright. Grunig, his wife and two children were wearing seat belts and were not injured in the crash. The highway was blocked for two hours and traffic was detoured around the scene via the old Blazer highway. The highway is now open.

There are no injuries, and ISP is currently investigating the crash.
