The Gem Valley Veterinary Service clinic at 661 North Hopper Ave. in Soda Springs has announced that they are celebrating five years of service to the animals in the community.

According to a news release from Gem Valley Veterinary Service, the clinic was founded in March of 2020 by Dr. Wayne Cutler. He has been practicing veterinary medicine in Caribou County for 27 years.

Dr. Cutler was born in Heyburn and he knew he wanted to be a vet since the age of 4 when he helped with a C-section on a cow. He studied veterinary science at Washington State University. He loves working with all kinds of animals and he especially enjoys equine medicine.

In May of 2024, Dr. Tawney Barfuss joined the staff. She grew up in Caribou County and is also a graduate of WSU. She loves helping all animals, especially cattle, and she even has her own long-horn cattle herd.

In addition to the two veterinarians, the rest of the staff includes veterinary technicians Kammi Matthews and Nicole Van Buren and office manager/receptionist Alease Meads. Everyone at the clinic is committed to caring for animals.

The clinic’s mission is to provide compassionate care for animals of all sizes. They promise to make every pet a priority and provide them the best care they need to stay healthy and happy.
