A former special education teacher with Oneida School District has pleaded guilty to three counts of lewd and lascivious conduct in Twin Falls County. 

Sid Arthur Campbell recently pleaded guilty to the felony charges and will be sentenced for the crimes on March 24, said Twin Falls County Prosecuting Attorney Grant Loebs. He faces a maximum sentence of life in prison. 

Campbell was teaching special education students at Malad Middle School when he was arrested on warrants out of Twin Falls County late last year.

Oneida School District trustees who were contacted on Monday night declined to comment on the situation. But shortly after Campbell’s arrest, Oneida School District Superintendent David Risenmay said they never had any indication that Campbell was facing such serious issues. He passed his background checks and was considered to be a pretty good teacher, Risenmay said at that time.   

Campbell’s charges stem from incidents that occurred on Feb. 1, 2012, according to court records.
