Area firefighters responded to two separate brush fires Saturday.

The first blaze started along Interstate 15 in Oneida County. The fire occurred around 5:30 p.m. south of Malad and spread into a  farmer’s field, but was extinguished before it damaged any structures.

There were no injuries in the fire.

Also, the Pocatello Fire Department responded to a blaze behind Pawn 1 on Yellowstone Avenue Saturday at about 6:30 p.m.

Battalion Chief Jon Miller said there was a report of juveniles in the area and they might have started the fire, but officials had no description of the juveniles and no idea where they went.

Miller said the fire was small and had pretty much smoldered out by the time firefighters arrived on the scene. Crews extinguished the fire quickly.
