CHUBBUCK — A popular Mexican restaurant in Blackfoot has recently opened a second location in Chubbuck.

Juan Huizar, owner of Los Gavilanes Mexican Grill, said this second location is on West Chubbuck Road in the former Mama Inez Express location.

The original Blackfoot location has been open since 2021. Huizar said there was a vacant building in the area that looked like it would be a good place to open a restaurant.

”I thought it was a good location,” he said. “It’s growing a lot.”

The community of Blackfoot has loved eating at Los Gavilanes. They have been supportive of the business and have given it good word of mouth.

”They responded pretty good,” Huizar said. “They’ve been supportive."

The restaurant also brought in customers from Pocatello and Chubbuck. They are the reason Huizar decided that he wanted to expand his business and open the second location.

”I had some customers who were driving from Pocatello to Blackfoot and they were just asking if I would open one in Pocatello,” he said. “I said I would if the opportunity comes.”

Los Gavilanes Mexican Grill serves several different kinds of food. In addition to Mexican foods such as enchiladas and burritos, they offer foods such as steak and seafood.

”We have quite a big menu,” Huizar said.

Huizar said he looks forward to the opportunity to serve the people in the Pocatello and Chubbuck area. He hopes they will enjoy the restaurant as much as the people in Blackfoot do.

”We’ll be waiting for people’s support,” he said.

Los Gavilanes Mexican Grill is located at 140 W. Chubbuck Road. More information can be found at losgavilanesmexicangrill.com.
