CHUBBUCK — A 22-year-old local man was rushed to the hospital Thursday after he was shot by law enforcement officers during a standoff at a Chubbuck home, authorities said.

Bannock County sheriff’s deputies and Chubbuck police were involved in the shooting that occurred around 1:10 p.m. at a residence on Fox Court near Cotant Park.

The man had reportedly caused a disturbance and barricaded himself in the residence Thursday morning. Two Bannock County sheriff’s deputies and five Chubbuck police officers responded to the home around 9:45 a.m., a standoff ensued and the shooting occurred.

The wounded man was then rushed via Pocatello Fire Department ambulance to Portneuf Medical Center for treatment. He’s expected to survive, authorities said.

No law enforcement officers were injured during the incident, the Sheriff’s Office stated.

Further details on the shooting have not yet been released.

Authorities haven’t provided the wounded man’s name. They did say that he is a Chubbuck resident.

Upon his release from PMC, the man is expected to be criminally charged, the Bannock County Sheriff’s Office said.

The officer-involved shooting is being investigated by the Eastern Idaho Critical Incident Task Force, led by the Blackfoot Police Department and Bingham County Sheriff’s Office, to make sure the officers involved acted properly.

Law enforcement officers blocked off Fox Court until 7 p.m. Thursday as they investigated the incident.
