BLACKFOOT — Two men have been arrested and a third is being sought by police after a fight involving multiple people with weapons broke out near the Eastern Idaho State Fairgrounds late Saturday night, according to the Blackfoot Police Department.

Blackfoot police and Bingham County sheriff's deputies were dispatched around 11:13 p.m. Saturday to North Maple Street, just south of the fairgrounds, for a report of a fight involving multiple people and a possible stabbing, police said.

When officers arrived, they found the altercation underway and began detaining those involved, several of whom tried to flee, according to police.

Investigators later determined the dispute began as two groups were exiting the fairgrounds. One group reportedly made gang-related comments toward the other after being asked to move out of the roadway, which escalated into a physical fight, police said.

Officers recovered several weapons and a firearm from those involved. Police said it was later confirmed that no stabbing had actually occurred, despite the initial report.

Multiple people suffered minor injuries as a result of the fight and were treated at the scene, according to police. A juvenile male was taken by ambulance to a local hospital with serious injuries, police said. He has since been released.

Papa Sagapolutele, 21, of Blackfoot, and Kaleb Cutler, 22, of Pocatello, were arrested on charges of aggravated battery, resisting and obstructing officers and destruction of evidence for their roles in the fight, according to police. Both were booked into the Bingham County Jail.

Detectives with the Bingham Joint Investigation Unit are also seeking to speak with Danion A. Hernandez Jr., 18, of Pocatello, regarding his involvement in the altercation. Police are asking Hernandez to contact investigators and are asking anyone who knows his whereabouts to contact law enforcement.

Witnesses have provided investigators with several videos of the incident. Anyone with video or who witnessed the altercation is asked to contact Detective Kaigan Young with the Bingham Joint Investigation Unit at 208-684-6259.

The investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
