IDAHO FALLS — The Art Museum of Eastern Idaho has announced that its permanent collection is now online, which will allow art lovers to explore the museum from the comfort of their homes.

This online collection will provide unprecedented access to one of the most significant collections of regional and contemporary art in Idaho, according to a news release from the museum.

The database allows viewers to explore the artwork by title, artist, medium, subject and exhibition. This will make it easier than ever to view the museum’s art collection.

Each work of art in the collection contains a record that shows images and information about it. There will also be biographical information on many of the artists. This information will be useful to anyone, whether they are doing research, preparing a lesson or looking for inspiration.

Maya Peters-Greño, registrar of the museum, said in the news release that this project is an important step in the museum’s efforts to make art more accessible to everyone.

“Our permanent collection belongs to our community, and putting it online allows more people to experience these incredible works and the stories behind them,” Peters-Greño said in the news release.

The database will also be a useful tool for students and teachers. Museum education staff and ARTworks outreach educators will be able to connect students to original works of art, and educators and other learners will be able to incorporate the collection into lessons, projects and independent study.

This project was made possible through support from the Henry Luce Foundation. This funding allowed the museum to photograph, catalog, research and publish the artwork online.

The museum intends to grow the collection by acquiring new artwork, conducting more research and learning more information about art and artists. It also welcomes new historical information from artists, collectors and other community members that can enrich the stories of the art in the collection.
