LOGAN, Utah — A 2-year-old girl was found unresponsive in a canal near 100 N 400 W in Logan Friday evening. Despite lifesaving efforts, the girl was pronounced dead, according to Logan Police Capt. Shand Nazer.

According to Nazer, Logan/Cache dispatch received a call about the missing girl around 6:30 p.m.

Officers responded and immediately began searching the area around the child’s home, including a canal nearby.

Within a short time, officers located the girl in the canal, unresponsive.

Officers, then paramedics attempted to revive the girl, who was taken to an area hospital where further life-saving efforts proved unsuccessful.

Police said Cache County Victim Advocates were called to the scene to assist family and emergency personnel.

No further information is available at this time, and the girl’s identity was not released.
