INKOM - The Pocatello Valley Fire District responded to two separate lightning sparked fires Friday.

Fire Chief Karen Aguilar said the first fire was reported at the Port of Entry on Interstate 15 at about 3:30 p.m.

Aguilar said 13 firefighters were on the scene of the fire, which burned about two acres, for two hours.

The second fire was reported on Portneuf Road at about 5:30 p.m. when lightning struck a power pole. Eight firefighters from Pocatello valley, as well as crews from Inkom responded to the blaze.

"The main concern was that power lines were laying on the road and we didn't want anyone driving through them," Aguilar said.
