The Idaho State women’s tennis team fell 5-2 to Eastern Washington in Reed Gym on Saturday. The loss brings ISU's overall record to 4-5 with a 1-2 mark in Big Sky Conference play.

The Eagles started off strong by winning the first two doubles matches to claim the point. They also won the first two matches of singles play to take a 3-0 advantage.

Angela Walker picked up ISU’s first point with a 6-3, 7-5 win at No. 4. The following match, Eastern Washington clinched the contest with a win at No. 2 singles.

Megan Poe picked up ISU’s only other point. She defeated her opponent 6-3 in the first set and was up 1-0 before collecting the win by retirement.

Madison Fenske was defeated at No. 6 singles despite a great effort. She won the first set 6-3 before her opponent returned the favor. She then fell 11-9 in a tight tiebreak.

The Bengals return to action next week with two road matches. ISU faces Montana on Saturday and Montana State on Sunday.
