Payton Fehringer is playing among the world’s best at the USGA U.S. Girls’ Junior Championship.
The 2018 Highland High graduate is 22 over par through 31 holes at Poppy Hills Golf Course in Pebble Beach, California. Tuesday’s second round was called because of darkness and will resume Wednesday at 8 a.m. Mountain time. Fehringer has completed 13 holes in the round.
In Monday’s opening round, Fehringer carded eight pars, but was outdone by 10 bogeys, including a double bogey on hole 1 and a triple bogey on hole 7. She finished with a 13-over-par 84.
Tuesday, Fehringer birdied the par-3 second, but has also hit three double bogeys. She’s 9 over with five holes to play.
Overall, Fehringer sits tied for 139th in the field of 156. The leader is California’s Lucy Li at 11 under par.
