PORTLAND STATE 75, IDAHO 59

Portland State upset top-seeded Idaho on Wednesday to earn its first Big Sky Conference tournament championship berth since 2011.

The fourth-seeded Vikings (24-7) went 6 for 10 from 3-point range and 19 of 19 from the free-throw line, while outrebounding the Vandals 44-33 in the tournament semifinals at CenturyLink Arena in Boise. Idaho (20-11) shot 35.7 percent from the floor and 6 for 29 from the arc.

Vandals senior Taylor Pierce, the Division I leader in 3-pointers made this season, went 0 for 12 on 3s Wednesday. She entered the game three triples shy of tying the NCAA record for 3s made in a season.

PSU plays No. 6 Eastern Washington on Friday in the championship.

EASTERN WASHINGTON 59, NORTHERN COLORADO 57

Eastern Washington upset Northern Colorado 59-57 on Wednesday in the semifinals of the Big Sky Conference tournament at CenturyLink Arena in Boise.

The Eagles’ Jessi McDowell-White scored the game-winning basket with 3.2 seconds remaining after she inbounded the ball off the back of UNC guard Savannah Smith. McDowell-White was fouled on the play and made the free throw to give EWU a 59-57 lead. UNC turned the ball over on its final possession.

Sixth-seeded Eastern Washington (13-19) plays No. 4 Portland State on Friday for the tournament championship. The No. 2-seeded Bears (21-10) were led by Smith’s 20 points. Eastern Washington has not played for a tournament championship since 1988.

MONTANA STATE 75, IDAHO 71

Montana State rallied from an early 10-0 deficit to beat Idaho 75-71 on Wednesday in the first round of the Big Sky Conference tournament at CenturyLink Arena in Boise.

The sixth-seeded Bobcats (15-16) shot 53.7 percent from the field, led by 23 points and 10 rebounds from Tyler Hall. The No. 11 Vandals (5-27) never regained the lead after MSU went ahead 24-22.

Montana State plays No. 3 Eastern Washington on Thursday in the quarterfinals.

SACRAMENTO STATE 72, NORTHERN ARIZONA 60

Sacramento State shot 52.9 percent overall and 60 percent from the 3-point line, en route to a 72-60 win Wednesday over Northern Arizona in the first round of the Big Sky Conference tournament at CenturyLink Arena in Boise.

Hornets guards Marcus Graves and Izayah Mauriohooho-Le’afa combined to sink 11 of 16 treys. Ninth-seeded Sac State (15-15) led by as many as 18 points. The eighth-seeded Lumberjacks (10-21) trailed for all but 2 minutes, 7 seconds.

Sac State plays Thursday against top-seeded Montana in the tournament quarterfinals.
