On behalf of Aid For Friends, I’d like to thank members of the Idaho State University soccer team for their help at our Splish and Splash fundraiser last Friday, August 5th. Soccer team member Virginia Wallace called Aid For Friends earlier in the week, said they had heard about Splish and Splash and wanted to know if we needed any help. We said we could use some assistance setting up and Virginia said the team would be there to help.

We expected maybe eight to 10 people would participate. We were very surprised when all 28 team members came to the Ross Park Pavilion. Many hands make light work, and in half an hour they helped scrub all the picnic tables, moved the tables into position for the disc jockey and food service, and erected the canopies for the ticket sellers and takers. We were glad they took photos for their Instagram account to document their community involvement.

We at AFF are hoping this can be the beginning of a relationship with ISU soccer. We talked briefly about their helping in December at our homelessness awareness encampment. Unless, of course, they are busy playing in the postseason in the NCAA Tournament.
