If you love homemade bread, especially a good sourdough, Red Door Sourdough is perfect for you. Jenny Brimhall enjoys baking bread and operates her cottage business from home, allowing her to spend time with her family while doing what she loves.

Jenny was born in Provo, Utah, and lived in many different places as a child. Her family moved to Paris, Missouri, a small town in the center of the state, where she graduated from high school with a class of only 26 students.

Loving to travel, she has visited many states in the U.S. and has also traveled abroad, living in Germany for a year, where she fell in love with soft pretzels.

Jenny also served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in London. After returning in 2011, she enrolled at Brigham Young University-Idaho, where she met her husband, Brian. Her field of study was recreational management, with a focus on supporting parents of children with special needs. However, during a field trip for another class — where she was assigned to look at houses for financial reasons — she and Brian found a home in the Thomas area they fell in love with. They weren’t planning to buy a house at that time, but it just felt right.

Jenny’s love of baking became her primary focus. Not wanting an “outside job,” her husband encouraged her to sell her baked goods, which she began on a small scale. She primarily produced and sold sandwich breads, but by 2023, she had expanded. She remodeled her kitchen, increasing her capacity to offer more items for sale.

Sourdough is her forte; she now offers artisan bread, rolls, buns, cinnamon rolls and, of course, pretzels. She also offers a wide variety of savory and sweet treats.

My late husband loved her artisan bread. I told her on one occasion that “if the crust was hard enough to cut his gums, it was perfect.” Jenny set out to make a dinner roll to fit his request.

Brimhall does welcome special requests and has expanded her menu over the past few years.

She bakes once a week, and pickups are on Fridays. She can deliver to commercial or business locations.

You can view her menu on Facebook under Red Door Sourdough and message her with your order. She is still accepting Christmas orders, but they must be received by Dec. 21 for pickup on Dec. 23.

Jenny is a delightful lady, passionate about what she does, striving to make the most delicious breads and treats available.
