Create smiling faces: Volunteer to help Salvation Army with its Secret Santa program, and you will have the opportunity to put a smile on a child’s face on Christmas morning. We are looking for caring individuals to work our Angel Trees in the Pine Ridge Mall this holiday season and to help in sorting and distributing the donated gifts. Crisis Line training: Family Services Alliance is tentatively planning a training in the near future for community members who may be interested in our crisis line work to assist victims of violence. Come by the FSA office at 355 S. Arthur Ave. and pick up a volunteer application.

Two Turkey Specialists wanted: Every year, our group of local youths who are working through difficult situations plans and cooks a traditional Thanksgiving meal for their families. This has been an annual tradition for more than a decade. Our youth group consists of a dozen kids ages 14 to 18. We are looking for two volunteers to be kitchen leaders for the event, which will be Nov. 21 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. These two people will be in charge of directing the kids on what to do and how to prepare the food. The Pocatello YSA 11th Ward, 1701 Bartz Way in Pocatello, is collecting donations until Dec. 4 to make hygiene kits for veterans. Items will be delivered to the veterans home in time for Christmas. Items needed include hair brushes and combs, ladies’ hair accessories, disposable razors, toothbrushes and toothpaste, deodorant, colorful washcloths, candy and large print crossword and word search books.
