Winners of the 2017 Stone Soup Contest are:
- First place, Butterburrs with chicken noodle and potato bacon soups for the second year.
- Second place, Sangu Specialty Soup with mesuhdahl soup.
- Third place, Old Town Inc. with cowboy soup.
- Fourth place, Lee’s Towing with ham and bean soup.
- Fifth place, Jeri’s Jumbo’s Café Inc with stuffed pepper and cheeseburger soup.
Other soup contenders were Bannock Civitans, Clarion, The Bridge and Sandtrap, and the soups were all great tasting. The Century, Highland, and Pocatello Junior Civitan Clubs would like to thank you for supporting Stone Soup Fundraiser for Junior Civitan. Also, we would like thank our other food donators: McDonalds for drinks, Geraldine’s, Smiths and Albertson’s for rolls, Perkins and Buddy’s for salad, and LDS Stake Center for the brownies.
Winners of the third grade coloring contest were:
- First place, Lauren Madden, Wilcox Elementary.
- Second place, Auvanel Warnock, Edahow Elementary.
- Third place, Kira Huskey, Indian Hills Elementary.
Again this year Merin Gabiola entertained us with her songs and guitar playing. This year our emcee Kelly Martinez read the Stone Soup story. Thank you, Merin and Kelly.
Thank you to all the volunteers from Bannock Civitan club, Pocatello Junior Civitan, Highland Junior Civitan, and Century Junior Civitans and their advisers who helped set up, serve, the door prize drawing, kids games, kids coloring table and clean up for the Stone Soup Fundraiser. Stone Soup proceeds will go the Junior Civitan Clubs from local high schools for community service projects. Junior Civitan is a service club for young people tailored specifically for training them to become “Builders of Good Citizenship” in the home, school, community and nation. The purpose of Junior Civitan is to develop initiative and leadership and to encourage young people to live a fuller life enriched by selfless service to others, with a focus on living the Golden Rule in human relationships by precept and example.
