POCATELLO — The National Honor Society Phi Kappa Phi chapter at Idaho State University will initiate 45 new members on April 29. Membership is by invitation to ISU’s top 7.5% of second term juniors and the top 10% of seniors and graduate students from each college. In 1897, a handful of scholars founded PKP to recognize excellence in all academic disciplines, covering a wider range of students than any other honor society in existence at that time. It has grown to over 100,000 members with chapters on 300 campuses in the United States. PKP’s mission is to “cultivate a community that celebrates and advances the love of learning,” a characteristic of university towns like Pocatello.

Phi Kappa Phi offers scholarships, grants and awards. The ISU chapter sponsors annual scholarly lectures and learning projects like book drives for children.
