POCATELLO — Melanie Parrish Anderson, who has recently authored the book "Lessons Learned from the Starfish: A Teacher's Journey with Children of Poverty" will be the featured speaker next week at Marshall Public Library.
Anderson has taught elementary education for more than 25 years, all of them in the Pocatello/Chubbuck School District, and specifically at Jefferson Elementary School. She has been a finalist in the Pocatello Teacher of the Year Award and nominated numerous times for this award.
We are calling this event "An Evening With An Author." It will be held April 12 at 7 p.m. in the Children's Room on the Lower Floor of Marshall Public Library.
Anderson will be discussing how poverty affects children, how we can help and why libraries are important and even critical in this effort. The program will end with time for questions and answers. This program is open to everyone.
