The Snake River High School girls basketball team won back-to-back state titles for the first time in program history last month.

And during that run, the Panthers didn’t lose a single game to a league opponent. The coaches recognized that by having them make up exactly half of this year’s All-3A South East Idaho Conference team.

Snake River, which finished 20-6, had six of the 12 selections, including player of the year and first-team pick, Rylie Edlefsen. The senior point guard, who is signed to Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa, averaged 18.9 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 2.6 steals per.

She earned the honor despite not playing in any regular season conference games. Edlefsen missed nine games to what was thought to be a season-ending injury with a fractured metacarpal bone in her right shooting hand. But she returned in the district championship game. Edlefsen still wasn’t 100% when she averaged 15.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.3 steals and 1.3 assists per game in leading the Panthers to the third state championship in program history.

“After a lot of highs and lows this season, it was a blessing to get to come back and play with the girls I love,” Edlefsen said. “Grateful for this honor and congrats to the other players who were chosen as well.”

But Edlefsen was far from alone.

Senior post Reese Baldwin and senior guard Camdyn Dunn both made the first-team. They were followed by senior guard Madi Watt on the second team and senior post Taylee Carlson rounded it with her honorable mention selection.

“It’s impressive to say the least about them,” Snake River coach Lincoln Driscoll said. “It’s fitting for them. The caliber of not only the players that they are, but just the kind of kids that they are and the work ethic they’ve had. So that’s humbling and deserving at the same time for those girls.”

American Falls, which made state for the first time since 2006, got four players on the list. Freshman Eden Jensen led the way with her first-team selection.

“I think it’s quite the accomplishment for all these girls,” American Falls head coach Stephen Grigg said. “It definitely shows how hard they all have worked. We as a coaching staff and a program are proud of who they are both on the court and off the court. They are all amazing and deserve the honor.”

And Marsh Valley rounded out with three players, including Tayzlee Belnap getting the nod on the first team.
