TREASURE VALLEY 4, POCATELLO RUNNIN REBELS 1

The Runnin Rebels couldn’t break through at the plate Thursday in their 4-1 loss to Treasure Valley at the Cowboy Classic tournament in Twin Falls. Pocatello tallied five hits but scored its lone run in the sixth inning.

“We just didn’t hit today,” Runnin Rebels coach Jesse Smith said. “We had some base hits, but we didn’t have that timely hit to give us two or three runs.”

Dawson Keller and Ben Ditton had two hits apiece for Pocatello. Cam Corpus, Braden Horrocks and Brandon Long combined to hold Treasure Valley to three hits from the mound.

The Runnin Rebels (12-11, 8-10 Area C) continue the tournament Friday against the Boise Seminoles and North Cache Titans at Twin Falls High School.

UPPER VALLEY 9, POCATELLO REBELS 1

The Rebels struggled from the plate and at the mound Thursday in their 9-1 loss to Upper Valley at Ricky’s Wood Bat tournament at South Fremont High School.

“We walked too many and didn’t hit the baseball,” Pocatello coach Jason Jones said. “They got some nice hits, and their starting pitcher went the distance and pitched very well.”

Andy Fernandez was 2 for 3 at the plate for Pocatello, and Jaden Jones pitched three scoreless and hitless innings.

The Rebels (10-14, 2-6 Area C) continue the tournament Friday against Rigby and Kimberly.

POCATELLO RAYS 19, SUGAR-SALEM 1

POCATELLO RAYS 8, SUGAR-SALEM 1

The Rays pounded Sugar-Salem 19-1 and 8-1 at home Thursday. Pocatello’s B Division Legion squad improved to 16-9 overall.

“I thought we played how we should,” Rays coach Conner Lamont said. “We have played a lot of games in a short amount of time, so these were great wins for us.”

The Rays host Twin Falls for a Friday doubleheader.
