When it was all said and done, the Idaho State defense didn't have its finest hour, but the team produced. And, it produced in scores of ways:

- Junior quarterback Roman Ybarra, making his first start as a Bengal, produced scores on each of the seven drives he led.

- The defense produced five turnovers, including a 75-yard interception return for a touchdown by senior captain Josh Whitworth on the game's eighth play.

- Idaho State's first Buck Buchanan candidate, Jared Allen, produced the type of havoc you'd expect from the country's best Division I-AA defender - one sack, one forced fumble on an 11-yard tackle for loss, four batted passes and six tackles.

- True freshman punter Kyle McQuown produced a 49.0 yards per punt average, including a 72-yard punt downed at the Montana Western 1.

In the end, the Bengals produced like they were on an assembly line, turning out a 54-20 victory that showed them to be armed with playmakers befitting the 10th ranked team in the country.
