Deputies chase wanted man from Shelley

   IDAHO FALLS — A wanted man from Shelley led authorities on a short pursuit Thursday around 11:50 p.m. and attempted to hit one of the patrol cars in the process, according to the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office.
   Deputies said they recognized the Subaru that 29-year-old Christopher J. Pena was driving as stolen out of the Idaho Falls area. They say Pena also had several warrants out for his arrest.
   According to the county report, Pena swerved in an attempt to hit one of the patrol vehicles when deputies attempted to pull the him over. Pena was reportedly pursued from the area of Upland Street and Ammon Road to 25th East and the Yellowstone Highway before stopping.
   Pena was taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault and felony eluding. Authorities say he was wanted in connection with charges of felony eluding, misdemeanor telephone harassment and for failure to appear/failure to pay fines.
