ISLAND PARK — A woman from Utah was injured when her snowmobile crashed into a tree while she was snowmobiling on Jefferson Mountain Wednesday afternoon.

 The injured woman was taken to a helicopter rendezvous point by a Fremont County Search and Rescue team along with medical personnel from Air Idaho Rescue, but she declined transport by helicopter or ambulance.

 Fremont County Search and Rescue reports that search members were called out for the accident shortly after 4:20 p.m.

 While the SAR team assembled at the parking lot at Blue Creek, two Fremont County deputies and several Island Park Ambulance personnel headed out on snowmobiles to locate the injured woman.

 The Air Idaho Rescue helicopter also responded and and spotted the injured woman and her group shortly before 6 p.m.

 The decision to conduct ground transport was made because the helicopter was unable to land at the scene of the accident.

 Fremont County Search and Rescue used its Med Sled towed behind a snowmobile and the woman arrived at the Blue Creek staging area shortly after 8:30 p.m. where she was treated by ambulance personnel and released.
