POCATELLO — Two women were injured Thursday morning when their car struck a deer on Interstate 15 in south Pocatello.

The 6 a.m. collision occurred near Century High School and resulted in the women’s southbound Toyota Corolla leaving the freeway, careening off an embankment and landing on its side on nearby Hildreth Drive.

One of the women was rushed via Pocatello Fire Department ambulance to Portneuf Medical Center for treatment of injuries suffered in the crash while the other woman was transported to a medical facility via private vehicle, Idaho State Police said.

The women’s names haven’t been released but authorities said both are expected to survive.

State police said they don’t know if the deer survived the collision.

The car was totaled and Hildreth Drive was temporarily shut down because of the crash.

The accident remains under investigation by state police.
