IDAHO FALLS — One teenager was injured in a car accident after authorities say a total of three teens were caught driving two different stolen vehicles and led them on a short pursuit Wednesday around 12:45 a.m.

    A Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office deputy attempted to stop a blue car on May 29 near First Street and Hitt Road for not having any tail lights on. Officials indicated the driver failed to yield and increased its speed.

    The deputy discontinued the pursuit. It was later advised the vehicle had been  reported missing.

    Another deputy noticed the same vehicle pull into the Summit Park subdivision near Ammon and Iona roads. Authorities then set up a perimeter and started searching for the three occupants on foot. Ultimately, they discovered that the blue car had been abandoned.

    Within a couple of minutes, it is alleged that the three individuals stole a 1997 Chevrolet S-10 pickup. As they were leaving the neighborhood, a deputy tried to stop them. The driver reportedly failed to yield and pushed on the gas near Bonneville High School on Iona Road. 

    However, another deputy was in front of them. The driver then allegedly tried to pass the deputy on the left side, drove off the roadway, overcorrected and rolled the vehicle.

   Two juvenile males ages 14 and 16 were taken to the 3B detention center and charged with vehicular theft and eluding an officer. An 18-year-old was transported to EIRMC for medical treatment, according to BCSO officials.

    The name of the 18-year-old was not released to the public on Wednesday. Members of the media must be able to provide a first and last name for hospital officials in order to obtain health status updates.
