CHUBBUCK — The Pocatello area will host the Ms. Senior Idaho pageant on Saturday, May 4 at the Mystique Theater, 158 E. Chubbuck Road. The event will start at 2:30 p.m.  

The pageant has been in existence for 40 years, with Idaho being involved for the past 16 years. This is the first time the state pageant has been held locally.Women 60 years of age and better who have reached this “Age of Elegance” are invited to participate in the event each year. Being involved in the pageant is a life-enhancing endeavor, not only for the ladies but also for the members of her family.  

The current Ms. Idaho Senior is Janet Staples of Pocatello, who was awarded her crown in May of 2012 in Couer d’Alene.   

How you have lived your life and contributed to your family and community are a big part of this competition. Janet traveled to Atlantic City, N.J., Oct. 7, 2012, for the national competition along with women from 36 other states.   

As with most pageants there is an interview with a panel of judges, a chance to portray yourself in an evening gown, recite your philosophy of life, and demonstrate that the gift of your talent can still be shared at any age.   

There will be contestants taking part from Caldwell, Nampa, Boise, Emmett,  Twin Falls, Gooding, Burley and Pocatello for this year’s pageant. 

This is a free event but donations will be cheerfully accepted and appreciated.
