POCATELLO — Phil Meador Subaru presented a check of $12,850 to Idaho Veterans Assistance League East as part of Subaru’s “Share the Love” program on Monday.

The “Share Your Love” program, which has reached its 10th anniversary, is a nationwide event where Subaru donates $250 for every Subaru sold or leased between a designated time frame to charities across the country.

This year, Subaru donated almost $22 million to both national and local charities and has donated $118 million through the span of the program’s 10 years of existence.

Each Subaru dealership had the choice to pick a national or local charity to give to. This year, Phil Meador Subaru’s employees voted to donate the funds raised to IVAL East, a local veterans home that provides services to benefit and support Idaho’s veterans and their families.

“We are really excited to be able to give a check of that size to an organization that does so much for our local veterans,” General Manager Israel Walls said.

Josiah Dahlstrom, an administrator at Pocatello Veterans Home, said the donation will help both IVAL East employees and veterans in a big way.

“It allows us to do more than we ever considered doing in the past,” he said. “Already with the excitement that it’s done, it allows us to show greater appreciation for the employees themselves and by doing that, it trickles down to the care that we provide the veterans at home, from day-to-day. It’s a big deal.”

In the past years, Subaru has donated to Make-A-Wish Foundation, Meals on Wheels America, National Park Foundation, and the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
