A family that has spent five decades searching for answers about Patricia Lee Otto’s disappearance say it’s not giving up.

Monday marked 50 years since Otto was last seen picking up her two young daughters from their grandparents and returning home. Her husband, Ralph Otto, said the young mother later walked out, leaving behind her girls and her car.

Otto’s daughter, Suzanne Timms, has said she witnessed an altercation between her parents, and her late father carried her out of sight. Otto was reported missing, and her family and friends have been looking for answers ever since.

“In the 50 years my mother has been gone, I have lost nearly everyone in my immediate family,” Timms said in a news release. “My father, my only sister, my nephew, my brother-in-law, and even my son. The weight of that grief is something that most people can’t imagine carrying.”

Timms has kept her mother’s memory alive with visits to Lewiston and frequent social media posts, asking anyone who may have information to contact the Lewiston Police Department.

“Hope is not something that depends on what I’ve lost. It’s something I’ve chosen,” Timms said. “Grief could have hardened me. It could have taken everything. But instead it taught me how precious life is, how important it is to keep searching, and how much love still remains.”

Timms said she will never stop searching for her mom and the truth. Otto’s story didn’t end in 1976, she said. As long as people are willing to listen, care and search, there is still a chance.

“I will never stop believing that one day, we will bring her home.”
