GRACE — The concerts for the 2013-14 season at the Gem Valley Performing Arts Center have been announced and this year’s entertainment promises to be the best line-up scheduled for the small town venue in the17 seasons since the center was opened.

The season will open with “The Hunts,” seven siblings from Virginia who perform Indie-folk acoustic music.

The Hunts have toured the United States and internationally for more than ten years. Their most recent album, “We Were Young,” released in 2012, was produced by Grammy nominee Mark Carman.

The siblings also dedicate their time to help others, and in 2012 they spent time at an orphanage in Haiti and organized a two-week music camp for more than 100 children there. Then, on November 2, Nashville-based country music trio Due West are scheduled to perform. Matt Lopez, a native of Wyoming, Tim Gates, a Utah native, and Brad Hull, from Arizona, are known for their vocal harmonies. All three share a love of music that combined to form the band when friends Matt and Brad Hull met Tim at a party and began to sing together. The rest, as they say, is history.

On December 7, Doktor Kaboom! will present “The Science of Santa Clause.” This show combines comedy with physical science to entertain people of all ages. David Epley (Doktor Kaboom!) performs experiments and demonstrations using the scientific method for a show that is both educational and entertaining.

Jeanne Coady will transform into Patsy Cline to perform all of on January 11. Coady’s show will feature many of Patsy Cline’s hits, including “Walkin’ After Midnight” and “Crazy.”

A regional favorite, Tim Behrens will perform the Patrick McManus comedy “McManus In Love” on Feb. 8. In the show, Tim shares Pat’s memories of his first love in Blight, Idaho. There will be a Valentine Dessert Social at 5 p.m. courtesy of the GVPAC.

Treasure Valley bluegrass band Chicken Dinner Road is scheduled to perform on March 15. The group formed in 2006 and have won the Battle of the Bluegrass Bands three times. They tour and perform regionally, and have opened for several nationally-recognized groups.

All shows are on Saturdays, and curtain time is at 7 p.m. Season tickets include admission to the Friday night performance of the Grace High School Theatre Department spring musical. Adult season tickets are $60 and a special youth pass can be purchased for $15 with an adult season pass. A $5 contribution goes to the Grace High School drama/theatre department for every adult season ticket sold.

Tickets can be purchased at Sanders Furniture in Grace (425-3501) and Soda Springs (547-3706.) Gift certificates are available. Tickets will also be available the night of the shows starting at 6 p.m.

A queen-sized quilt hand made and designed by Joan Farnworth of Fabulous Fabrics and GVPAC member Mary Obray, will be raffled off as a fundraiser throughout the season. Tickets are priced from one cent up to $5. The last three digits on the ticket(s) you draw are the price for the raffle ticket. The quilt will be raffled off on March 15, 2014. Tickets will be sold at the show and at area businesses.
