Broken power pole

POCATELLO — A motorist hit a power pole that sparked a small brush fire at the intersection of 5th Avenue and Broadway Street near the Interstate-15 on ramp Thursday morning, according to Pocatello Police Department officials.

As of 10 a.m., one lane of South 5th Avenue was blocked off to traffic as several Idaho Power crew members worked to repair the damaged power pole.

Electricity was eventually restored to about 855 Idaho Power customers.

Witnesses say the fire was put out in approximately 15 minutes by a crew with the Pocatello Fire Department.

A woman was traveling south on 5th Avenue when, for unknown reasons, her vehicle left the roadway and struck a power pole.

The woman was not severely injured.
