POCATELLO — A 29-year-old Chubbuck man is facing a felony DUI charge in Bannock County.

Pocatello police say they received a report of an intoxicated driver over the weekend, and they eventually located the vehicle parked on the 800 block of East Alameda Road.

The driver, Michael A. Cowan, was not conscious at that point, police said, adding that officers had to pound on the window to wake him up.

Officers could smell the odor of an alcoholic beverage when they made contact with Cowan, police said, and he wasn’t able to satisfactorily complete field sobriety tests.

Cowan was subsequently taken into custody and charged with a felony DUI.

Police say it’s the fourth time in 10 years that Cowan has been brought to court on a DUI charge.

A hearing that will determine if there is enough evidence to take the case to trial has been set for Oct. 28, according to Bannock County Magistrate Court records.
