POCATELLO — Kayla Krehbiel, owner of Big Mama’s Pizza, is hoping to make people’s mouths water by offering them the chance to build a personalized pizza from the bottom up.

    She recently purchased a food truck and will be set up at the Gate City Relay for Life walk at Century High School on Friday, July 12. The event kicks off at 6 p.m. Ten percent of Krehbiel’s earnings will be donated to the American Cancer Society.

    “Everything is made from scratch,” Krehbiel says. “You get to choose from five different crusts, six different sauces and a variety of toppings. It takes four minutes to cook.”

    The 26-year-old entrepreneur will host a grand opening celebration the following day in conjunction with the Portneuf Valley Farmers Market. The food truck will be parked along North Union Pacific Avenue in Old Town Pocatello from 11-1 p.m. on July 13.

    “Until I get the proper permitting in place, I am event focused,” Krehbiel explains. “I’m set to be at Chubbuck Days and the upcoming Bluegrass festival.”

    Krehbiel entered into the world of catering after earning a degree in culinary arts from Idaho State University.

    Each customer gets to choose from the following crust options: Original, parmesan, sour dough, whole wheat and gluten free. The selected sauces include the traditional marinara, garlic, alfredo, vegan, barbecue and ranch.

    Once the Blackfoot native clues into which locations are best to set up shop, she plans on being open from 11-2 p.m. and from 5-9 p.m. daily.

    “It (cooking) is something I am very passionate about,” Krehbiel says. “I’m excited to get out there and do something on my own.”
