The six Idaho Philanthropy Day award winners — consisting of both individuals and businesses — have been announced. The dedicated volunteers and donors are celebrated for their generous gifts with featured stories online at idahophilanthropy.org.

“Idaho citizens know the incredible value volunteering has on our neighbors and friends. It is important to recognize those individuals and businesses that give their time, talent and treasure to strengthen our communities,” Gov. Brad Little said.

Winners of the annual awards include Mabel Dobbs (Weiser), Kaycee Dixey (Fort Hall), Luke Sharon (Coeur d’Alene), Water Quality Stewards (Sandpoint), LEAP Housing (Boise) and Matchwood Brewing Company (Sandpoint).

“I was in shock, in disbelief,” Kaycee Dixey — winner of the Treasured Adult Philanthropist award — said. “Did I really win an award? It felt normal to me to do these types of things. It’s been instilled in me.”

More than 100 nominations were received, and winners were chosen by a committee after reviewing each nomination. The winners of each category encompass the spirit of philanthropy, including time, talent, treasure and involvement in the community.

“It is truly a wonderful thing to share these stories with all Idahoans. We hope that everyone is inspired to be more involved with their communities after seeing what can be done,” Idaho Nonprofit Center CEO Kevin Bailey said.

In addition to each award category, the Governor Cecil D. Andrus Volunteer of the Year Award will be announced on Nov. 15 and will be chosen from the six winners.

Organized by the Idaho Nonprofit Center and Serve Idaho, the Governor’s Commission on Service and Volunteerism, the annual Idaho Philanthropy Day awards recognize outstanding volunteers and philanthropists throughout Idaho. In 2020, Serve Idaho combined efforts with the INC, replacing the previous Idaho’s Brightest Stars event.
