n In its 10th year, Southeastern Idaho Public Health will again host the annual Mom n’ Me 5k Fun Run/Walk. The event will take place today, Mother’s Day, at Centennial Park. The Mom n’ Me 5k Fun Run/Walk is an effort to create a healthy tradition for friends and family on Mother’s Day. The event is held on the Portneuf Greenway, beginning and ending at Centennial Park, and allows easy access for all generations.
n Today, the Portneuf Sangha and Meditation Center will view the first section of a video of a retreat led by Pema Chodron, titled “Living With Vulnerability.” In this section, titled “Unconditional Friendship With Yourself,” she teaches how we can cultivate a more empathetic relationship with ourselves and with others. n Sawabi, a chapter of the Native Plant Society, invites the public on a Monday evening guided field trip to Batise Springs by the Simplot Plant. Paul Allen will lead the field trip group through this beautiful riparian area that has native plants and also many birds. Because this is on private land, all will carpool or caravan at 6 p.m. from the bison sculpture by the big parking lot at South Fifth Avenue and East Dillon Street at ISU. n Snake River Advance Square Dance Club will host dance and workshop Monday at 7 p.m. at South Pocatello Square Dance Hall, 1935 S. Fifth Ave.
n The public is invited to attend the annual Bonneville County and Idaho Falls Peace Officer Memorial Service on Monday at 6 p.m. at the Bonneville County Courthouse, 605 N. Capital Ave. in Idaho Falls. This event is a special service to recognize and remember. There will be a special tribute to Officer Leen VanHulten, who passed away in February 2017. He served the city of Idaho Falls for 24 years as a patrol officer and school resource officer for Idaho Falls School District 91.
n On Monday, the Senior Activity Center, 427 N. Sixth Ave. in Pocatello, will host bridge 9:30 a.m. to noon
