Grace 3, Malad 0

MALAD - Grace used an impressive offensive attack to sweep Malad 25-14, 25-13, 25-22 on Thursday.

Leading the way for the Grizzlies was Angela Smith, who had eight kills, one block and three digs. Alyssa Brady also played well, adding three kills and three blocks for points.

With the win, Grace improved to 5-1, 2-0 in district play.

"It was a real good team effort," Grace coach Ray Yamauchi said. "Those kids are really starting to jell and learn team unity. I'm really pleased with what I saw tonight."

Soda Springs 3, Marsh Valley 0

SODA SPRINGS - Despite the distractions of homecoming week, the 2A Soda Springs volleyball team managed to stay perfect on the season with a 3-0 (25-19, 25-18, 25-7) victory over 3A Marsh Valley on Thursday.

"They played well," said Cardinals coach Robin McMurray. "It's homecoming week, so they're kind of busy. It was nice to come out and get in in three sets."

Breanne Yamauchi recorded four blocks in the winning effort while also stepping up as a setter.

Soda Springs (5-0 overall, 1-0 2A Fifth District) will travel to district rival Aberdeen on Wednesday.

High River Ladies

The High River Ladies played odd-or-even on Thursday at Riverside.

In the first flight, Faye Frome had the top odd score, while Vera Thomson carded the best even round.

Elenor Vonacek scored the best odd round in the second flight, while Dolly Morrison had the best even round.

Next week, the group will play its club championship.
