American Falls 22, Filer 14

AMERICAN FALLS - After an emotional victory at Kimberly the week before, the American Falls football team didn't play the most aesthetically pleasing game Friday.

Still, the Beavers dominated on the ground on the way to a 22-14 win over Filer.

"It was an ugly win for us. We had some penalties we don't usually have," said American Falls coach Jess Johnson. "But we'll take the win."

Two of those infractions negated touchdowns, keeping the score close. But the Beavers iced the game by rushing for 107 yards in the fourth quarter.

For the game, senior Paden Johnson led the way with 189 yards, while the team combined for 253.

American Falls (2-1) will host North Fremont for homecoming next week.

South Fremont 47, Bear Lake 20

MONTPELIER - Once the Bear Lake football team found its offensive rhythm, four turnovers had already buried it in a four-touchdown hole.

That was more than enough for visiting South Fremont, which beat Bear Lake 47-20 on Friday in Montpelier.

The Bears' first four possessions ended with an interception and three fumbles, and the Cougars turned those into a 27-0 lead.

"They ran over us," Bear Lake coach Jon Homer said. "They played a great game and handed it to us."

The 3A Cougars finished with nearly 300 rushing yards. Bryten Farley led the way with 85 yards and two touchdowns. Jeff Rawson added 111 yards from scrimmage and three touchdowns.

Bear Lake got on the board in the second quarter with a 14-yard touchdown pass from Spencer Smedley to Bailey Thomas. The connected later in the game on a six-yard touchdown. Morris Bunn gained 111 rushing yards to lead the Bears.

Now 1-1, the 3A Bears visit Teton next week.

Marsh Valley 42, Teton 14

ARIMO - Forrest Barron ran for three touchdowns, and Marsh Valley rolled to a 42-14 home victory over visiting Teton on Friday.

"We struggled to move the ball a little early on," Marsh Valley coach Jason Taylor said, "and when Forrest came in, he was determined to get the tough yards. … Soon those turned into big plays."

Now 2-1, 3A Marsh Valley visits Sugar-Salem next week.
