BASKETBALL

    • Coaches from the Pac 12, Mountain West, and Big Sky will join Idaho State coaches Seton Sobolewski and Bill Evans for the first ever Idaho State University  Women’s Basketball Coaching Clinic at Reed Gym, Sept. 21. The clinic will be free to attend and is intended for coaches at any level of both male and female teams. University of Utah women’s head coach Anthony Levrets, Weber State women’s head coach Bethann Ord, Boise State women’s assistant coach Cody Butler and Utah State women’s assistant coach Stu Sells will all present in the day-long clinic. There will be a midday break for attendees to get their own lunch.

    • Camp Fire is accepting registration for its winter basketball league. The league is for kids in Kindergarten, first, second and third grades. The last day to register is Oct. 11. Games begin Nov. 2 and go through Dec. 14, with no games on the Thanksgiving weekend. All games are played on Saturday. Cost is $60, which includes team shirts, pictures and trophy.     • The Pocatello Parks and Recreation Department’s kid’s basketball player registration for girls in third, fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh grades will begin online, Tuesday, Sept. 10 at 9 a.m. at  http://pocatelloparksrecreation.sportsites.com/Player/HomePlayer.aspx. The cost is $30 per player. Office registration will be held Monday through Friday, beginning Sept. 3, at the Pocatello Recreation Office, 144 Wilson, between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. Open registration will close Friday, Sept. 27. All completed team rosters will also be due that same day. Late registration of players begins Oct. 1st if there are openings on existing teams. All late registrants will be assessed a $5 late fee charge. The season begins on Saturday, Oct. 26, and will conclude Saturday, Dec. 21. Practice may begin Oct. 7 or Oct. 14. Volunteer coaches are needed for this program to succeed. For questions concerning the program, call 234-6235. All volunteer coach applicants will be subject to a background check.

    • The D-League is an open competitive youth basketball league made possible by the Pocatello Parks and Recreation Department. This is a team only league, and there are no individual signups. The cost for the fifth and sixth grade league or seventh and eighth grade league is $375 per team. Each team will get 10 games. There are no minimum or maximum numbers of players allowed on a team, but each player must be signed on the team roster. The department will not assign any players to teams in this league. Registration for teams in both leagues began Monday, Sept. 3. Registration can be also done online at http://pocatelloparksrecreation.sportsites.com/Player/HomePlayer.aspx. Rosters will be available to be picked up at the office by the coaches between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. daily at the Parks and Recreation office, 144 Wilson Avenue, or from the Team Sports website http://teamsports.pocatello.us  All completed team rosters will be due Friday, Oct. 4. The season may begin on Saturday, Oct. 26 and will conclude Saturday, Dec. 21. Games may also be played during the week if necessary to accommodate demand. SWIMMING

    • Swim team tryouts have started at the Tiger Aquatic Club (TAC) in Pocatello. There are various teams available for all ages and levels. Please call head coach Dustin Perry for more details at 232-4366.

FENCING

    • The Pocatello Fencing club will begin its 2013-14 season Sept. 18. Any youth between the ages of 6 and 18 are welcome to come check out the unique sport. Students the ages of 6-12 will meet between 6 and 7 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays. Older students meet from  7-8:30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays. FOOTBALL

    • The All State Football Game is looking for the top current seventh grade football players to represent team Idaho. This team will take on the Treasure Valley all stars in the eighth Annual All State Game. The game will be broadcast on Idahosports.com.     • Full contact alumni football games are being set up for those athletes who played at Pocatello, Highland, Marsh Valley, Century and North Gem high schools. The games will be full contact using high school rules. The organizers will provide all equipment. The games will be held in October with locations and times to be announced. GOLF

    • A golf tournament has been added to the list of Spud Day activities, Saturday, Sept. 21, in Shelley. The first annual Shelley Spud Day Shoot-out will begin at 10 a.m. at Journey's End Golf Course in Shelley. Entry fee is $10 plus green fees. Players will be eliminated after each hole until there is just one player left as the winner. All players guaranteed to play at least nine holes. SOFTBALL

    • The 2013 Big Sky Champion Idaho State softball team is hosting its annual skills camp, Saturday, Sept. 28, at Miller Ranch Stadium. The Camp will be divided into three separate sections: Hitting, slappers camp and pitching. The hitting section of the camp will start at 9 a.m. The cost for this section of the camp is $40. At 11:30 a.m., the camp will move to a clinic on “slapping.” The cost for this section of the camp is $20, but if players attend the hitting section of the camp they will receive a $5 discount. Participants will need their own bat, helmet and batting gloves for both the hitting and slapping sections of the camp. The pitching camp will start at 1 p.m. New Bengal assistant coach and Team USA member Jessica Moore will guide the pitching portion of the day.     • The Sandlot Reign 14U Elite travel softball team is looking for one player. This player would start immediately and play fall ball league and tournaments. They would continue playing during summer 2014. This players must be eligible per ASA age requirements to partcipate in 14U next summer. DANCING AND GYMNASTICS

    • Registration for the City of Pocatello Community Recreation Center’s fall dance and gymnastic classes is under way. The dance and gymnastics schedules and online registration are available by visiting the Parks and Recreation Department page at www.pocatello.us. Registration can also be done at the community Recreation Center on 144 Wilson Avenue. Classes begin in September and end with recitals in January. Class tuition is $20 per month. BOXING

    • The Gate City Boxing Club on 323 N. Main is now accepting applications for the 2012-2013 boxing season. Any person, male or female, ages eight through 34 are eligible to compete.
