POCATELLO — Chris Smith survived bogeys on his last two holes here Monday to capture first place among professionals in the Rocky Mountain Section PGA Pro-Am tournament at Riverside.

    Smith, an assistant pro at Blackfoot, carded a 3-under-par 69 to edge Cameron Garn of Teton Lakes and Bobby Howell of Highland, both at 70. John Van Vleet of Preston and Tyson Bowen of Sage Lakes, Idaho Falls, were tied for fourth at 72.

    Thirty-two teams of professionals and amateurs competed in the event. Each team was headed by a pro with three amateur partners. Two teams tied for first at 152 — Blackfoot and Teton Lakes. Team scores were compiled with one gross and two nets.

    In the amateur division, Steve Daw posted an eight-under-par 64 to win the Championship Flight, with Cody Schierman and James Frankos tied for second at 66. Ryan Pearson was fourth at 67, Chris Reinke fifth at 68, and Michael Konrad sixth at 71. Net winners were Ernie Eggers, 62; Ricky Dotson and Mark Beebe tied at 63, and Don Breding, Ryan Hepworth and Steve Zollinger tied at 66.

    In the First Flight, Tony Warth scored a 78, and there was a three-way tie at 79 among Cleave Lewis, Vardell Tait and Lucas Sprague. Net winners were Paul Morgan, 61; with a three-way tie among Jason Meador, Art Paz and Randy Huskinson at 66.

    Senior pros Fred Luthy and Buster Whitney tied with 71.
