It was win or go home for the Pocatello Runnin’ Rebels Friday in the “AA” district tournament in Twin Falls.

    A victory over Jerome and Pocatello still had a shot of making next week’s state tournament. A loss and the season is over.

    Head coach Vinnie Benavidez turned to ace Kade Teter on the mound and the offense did the rest as Pocatello earned a 13-3 victory.

    Pocatello was able to overcome a couple of first inning errors by getting five hits from their eight and nine hitters. Carson Robbins and Aaron Pope combined to go 5-for-6 with three doubles and five RBI in the game.

    “Carson and Aaron stepped up for us today,” Benavidez said. “We are going to win a lot of ball games when you get the kind of production we got out of the bottom of our line up.”

    Teter allowed three runs on three hits while shutting Jerome down over the final six innings.

    The Runnin’ Rebels play the loser of Friday night’s late game between Twin Falls and Idaho Falls today at 1 p.m. in Twin Falls. The winner of that game moves on to the state tournament.
