The Pocatello girls defeated district rival Preston 57-39 Thursday evening at The Palace.

    Led by Allie Parker’s 17 points and sister Carly Parker’s 15, Poky had no trouble with its opponent.

    “They both played well,” Pocatello head coach Laraine Cook said of the sisters. “Allie has been a little quiet offensively the last couple of games. She played well and got some confidence. It was nice to see that.”

    Hannah Roberts lead Preston with nine points, but the team was shut down by Pocatello’s defense.

    “I thought we ran a defense that I’ve kind of been on the girls a little bit to rotate to the right positions,” Cook said. “I was pleased with the execution to get on their shooters.”

    Pocatello (4-5, 3-1 4A Fifth/Sixth District) hosts Bonneville on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.

Oakley 25, Rockland 23

    The Rockland girls dropped a low-scoring affair 25-23 to Oakley Thursday evening on the road.

    Savannah Farr lead the way for the Bulldogs with nine points.

    “We battled through some adversity,” said Rockland head coach Vern Nelson. “It was a good game for us to play, a physical game. It was just one of those nights. Not a lot of continuity tonight.”

    The Bulldogs (3-5) travel to North Gem on Saturday. Tipoff is slated for 7:30 p.m.

Sky View (UT) 68, Marsh Valley 35

    The Marsh Valley girls dropped at tough game to Sky View (Utah) 68-35 Thursday evening at home.

    “They shot the lights out of it,” said Marsh Valley head coach Kyle McQuivey. “They kept on it and they just hit the lights out. They were just well coached and a sound a team.”

    Kami Hansen led the way for the Eagles with 12 points while Sara McNabb had eight.

    The Bobcats are a larger school from Utah, something that didn’t deter McQuivey or his team.

    “If you play teams to your level you don’t really get any better,” he said.

    Marsh Valley (6-2) hosts Malad Saturday at 7 p.m.

Boys

Snake River 54, Soda Springs 46

    The Snake River boys took down Soda Springs 54-46 on the road Thursday night.

    Brad Coombs scored a game-high 20 points for the Panthers.

    “They pulled away there towards the end,” said Soda Springs head coach Greg Bergholm. “They just got to the foul line and we didn’t stop them.”

    The Cardinals (1-5) host Grace today at 7 p.m.

Aberdeen 55, West Jefferson 41

    The Aberdeen boys handled West Jefferson 55-41 Thursday evening in Aberdeen.

    Austin Horrocks scored a game-high 15 points for the Tigers while Brian Cerna pitched in 14.

    “We got off to a big start but then we let them back in it,” said Aberdeen head coach Cory Hollingsworth. “We rebounded really well.”

    Aberdeen (2-3) hosts Snake River Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Sho-Ban 63 Lighthouse Christian 46

    The Sho-Ban Chiefs were on a two-game losing streak and there was no way they were about to lose another one.

    In Fort Hall Thursday night, the Chiefs beat the Lighthouse Christian Lions 63-46.

    “It was a team effort,” said Sho-Ban head coach Lester Stewart. “Everybody does their part. We practice so hard that when guys get in the game, they know what to do.”

    Talen Samora had a game-high 25 points. Andre Graves had 11 and in his first game of the season, Devon Devine chipped in 14 points and nine rebounds.

    “Our core has been together for two years in a row and we had never lost two-    in-a-row,” Stewart said.

    The Chiefs are now 4-2 overall and host Murtaugh Monday at 7:30 p.m.
