POCATELLO — Idaho Falls golfers grabbed the top two spots in the Idaho Senior Golf Championships played here Wednesday and Thursday. Layne Isom, playing out of the Sand Creek municipal course in Idaho Falls, scored a 3-under-par 139 at Juniper Hills Country Club to claim the state title. Keith Reimer, of the Pinecrest municipal course at Idaho Falls, was runnerup at 144.

    Some 65 graybeards competed in four flights for gross and net prizes.

    Kirk Hartman and Dwayne Mitani, both of Pocatello, were first and second in Championship net standings at 130 and 135, respectively.

    Rick Bystrom, Pocatello, topped the First Flight gross standings at 160, with Jim Lee, Blackfoot the net winner at 139. Second Flight gross winners were Dennis Shipley, 165, and Dave Olson, Pinecrest, net winner at 134.

    Mike McCarty, Juniper, was gross winner in the Third Flight with 179, and Darrell Richards, Blackfoot, was the net winner at 137. Winners in the women’s flight were Donna Jennings, gross, 232, and Sheila Canada, net, 154.

   Total prize payout was $3,375 including $325 added by the Idaho State Golf Association.
