The Bear Lake softball team hammered Marsh Valley Friday afternoon, winning 15-0 in three innings.

    RiLee Lutz and Olivia Harrison combined for a no-hit shut out of the Eagles.

    Lutz had two home runs on the day while LaShea Peterson had one. Kendal Jacobsen pitched in a double.

    Bear Lake (15-2, 5-0 3A Fifth District) hosts Malad today at 11 a.m. The Bears return to district play Wednesday when they host American Falls at 4 p.m.

    Kali McMinn struck out 14, the Rams banged out 16 hits and Highland swept Idaho Falls 4-2 and 11-2.    

    In the first game, Highland had four runs before the third innings, but the Tigers held the Rams scoreless the rest of the way.

    It did not matter, though, because McMinn had 10 of her 14 strikeouts.

    Highland’s bats came alive in the second game, cranking out 10 hits. Both McMinn and Pashence Korten and Makenzie Van Sickle went 2-for-4 from the plate.

    The Rams, 14-5 overall and 8-1 in the 5A Fifth-Sixth District, travel to Madison Wednesday before hosting the Bobcats in a doubleheader Thursday.

Malad 14, West Side 4

    The Malad Dragons used a nine-run seventh inning to blow out the West Side Pirates 14-4 Friday in Dayton.

    “West Side played us really well,” said Malad head coach Scott Ray. “We got a lot of hits, but we didn’t start scoring until the seventh inning. ...It was great team effort.”

    Kylee Thorpe banged out a double and a triple and Katie Valentine had three doubles while Terrie Valentine had a home run.    

    The Dragons play at Bear Lake today at 11 a.m.
