Malad 46, Aberdeen 28

    Brooke Sorensen and Aubrey King combined for 33 points and the Malad Dragons beat the Aberdeen Tigers 46-28 Friday night in Aberdeen.

    “We started strong and we finished strong,” said Malad head coach Brooke Sorensen. “It was 32-26 heading into the fourth.”

    But in the final quarter, the Dragons held Aberdeen to two free throws and that was enough to finish off the Tigers.

    Malad (10-7 overall, 2-1 3A Fifth District) hosts Soda Springs Thursday at 7:30 p.m.

North Gem 55, Shot-Ban 32

    On senior night and behind a balanced scoring effort from nine players, the North Gem Lady Cowboys beat the Sho-Ban 55-32 in Bancroft Friday night.

    “We did a really good job of running the floor and that presented the opportunities to score,” said North Gem head coach Cody Hansen. “Rebounding was the key for us.”

    Shycole Simons had 16 rebounds, along with her nine points. Emily Simons had a game-high 10.

    The Lady Cowboys (7-11 overall, 6-2 1A DII) travels to Clark County tonight for a 6 p.m. tipoff.

Snake River 54, Bear Lake 37

    Makena Shelley led a trio of Panthers in double figures as Snake River defeated Bear Lake 54-37 in Montpelier Friday.

    Snake River took control of the game in the opening quarter building a 16-3 lead with tough defense and solid shooting.

    “Scout Baldwin and Kylie Coby played solid defense for us tonight,” said Snake River head coach Rich Dunn. “Makena Shelley was also solid on both sides of the ball tonight. The game came down to a couple of runs and we took advantage of them.”

    Madison PIlster chipped in 16 points, while Coby finished with 10.

    Snake River (17-1, 3-0 3A Fifth District) play at Marsh Valley Thursday at 7 p.m.

Boys

Oakley 49, Rockland 33

    Playing its third consecutive game was too much for the Rockland boys’ basketball team as they fell 49-33 to Oakley in Rockland Friday night.

    Colton Robinson scored 10 points and pulled down 11 rebounds to lead the Bulldogs. B.J. Turley added 10, too.

    Those points were not enough to make up for the loss of leading scorer Rex Permann who was sick and played less than half of the game.

    “We were down to seven players at one point, and they were able to keep substituting in fresh legs,”  said Rockland head coach Scott Lish. “We hung with them for two quarters, but we were dead tired in the third.”

    Rockland (5-5, 3-1 I A DII) hosts Sho-Ban Tuesday at 7 p.m.
