In a battle of defending state champions the Century Diamondbacks got the best of Idaho Falls 3-0 Tuesday night in Idaho Falls.

    Century won the sets 25-18, 25-17, 25-21 over the 5A state champions.

    Kayla Ellis finished the night with 30 kills and digs. Ann Clappier added eight kills and four blocks and libero Jacque Cuttlers added 11 digs.

    “The team really passed well and we played really great floor defense,” Century head coach Pauline Thiros said. “That is a pretty good team and we played well to beat them.”

    Thiros also praised the play of middle Alex Kempf who playing in place of the injured Henny Hearn.

    “Alex played well in the middle and did not make many errors,” Thiros said. “She finished the night with four kills and two blocks.”

    Century hosts Burley and Jerome today beginning at 4 p.m.
