The Bonneville Bees had gotten close every time they played Century, but the Bees could never solve the Diamondbacks’ riddle.

Until Wednesday night in Idaho Falls. It took five sets and three hours for Bonneville to defeat Century 22-25, 25-23, 14-25, 25-21, 15-13.

“Very well played by both teams,” said Century head coach Pauline Thiros. “It came down to a couple of points.”

“I think both teams are thinking that if either one wants to hang a banner this year, they’ll have to go through the other one,” Thiros said.

Despite Ann Clappier’s 27 kills and five blocks, Bonneville handed Century its first district loss of the year.

Century is 31-3 overall and 5-1 in the 4A Fifth/Sixth District.
