SODA SPRINGS - The Soda Springs boys' basketball team withstood a late surge by American Falls to defeat its 3A rival 59-55 at home Wednesday.

The Cardinals led 41-29 entering the fourth quarter, but the Beavers outscored them 26-18 in the final period. American Falls hit two consecutive 3-pointers with under two minutes remaining, but Soda Springs sealed the win from the free-throw line.

James Frankos led the Cardinals with 13 points, while Nate Villalobos scored 20 to pace the Beavers.

Soda Springs (1-3) next hosts Snake River on Dec. 17.
