SALMON - Snake River overcame a sloppy first half to defeat Salmon 51-48 in overtime Wednesday.

The Panthers trailed 28-16 at halftime but improved defensively in the second. They finally overtook the Savages midway through the fourth, but Salmon scored with eight seconds left in regulation to tie the game at 41-41. Erica Christensen missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer.

But Christensen then hit a trey to begin overtime, and the Snake River held the lead from there. Saige Goff went 4-for-4 from the free-throw line to seal the win.

"I was really pleased with their mental toughness and their courage and willingness to fight back and stay with it," Snake River coach Steven Morton said. "I was really happy with that."

Snake River (4-3) next hosts Malad on Friday.
