Preston 68, Bear Lake 44

PRESTON - The Preston girls' basketball team started off and finished strong for a 68-44 home win over Bear Lake on Saturday.

The Indians took a 20-6 lead in the first quarter and then capped off the victory with a 22-12 run in the final period.

"We had a pretty good lead most of the time, but they kept at it," Preston coach Ryon Pope said of Bear Lake. "They just stayed on our heels."

Holly Checketts led all scorers with 20 points and added 15 rebounds. The Indians made nine 3-pointers in all, including five from Brooke Beckstead.

Preston (8-4) next travels to play Logan (Utah) on Tuesday.
