SKYLINE 40, MINICO 14

Skyline beat Minico 40-14 on Friday at Holt Arena in the 4A state championship game. The Grizzlies have won the last two 4A state championships.

Skyline (10-2) tallied 241 yards rushing, led by 100 yards and three touchdowns from Kyler Morgan. The Grizzlies led 14-0 after the first quarter and 27-8 at halftime before cruising to the win. Minico (9-3) was led by Larry Vega’s 63 yards rushing.

PRAIRIE 36, GENESEE 28

Prairie beat Genesee 36-28 on Friday at the Kibbie Dome in the the 1A DI state championship game. The Pirates (11-1) opened the season with a 36-6 loss to Genesee (10-1), but rallied off 11 consecutive wins to close the year. The state title is Prairie’s first since 2014.

CAREY 50, TRI-VALLEY 42

Carey out-dueled Tri-Valley 50-42 on Saturday at Middleton High School to win the 1A DII state championship game. The Panthers (12-0) won their first state title since 2010 and handed the Titans (10-1) their first loss of the season.

Carey’s Porter Mecham had 25 offensive touches for 304 yards and three scores. Tri-Valley’s Chip Mitchell and Teddy Ertel combined for 275 yards rushing in the loss. Tri-Valley led 12-8 in the first quarter, but Carey stormed back to take a 30-20 lead at halftime. Carey never trailed in the second half.
